My Services
I offer professional proofreading and copyediting services as well as a full technical review/edit service.
I specialise in books (digital and hardcopy), articles, technical papers etc specifically relating to computing and IT, but I am more than happy to work on any other type of text.
For proofreading work, the level of intervention is reduced because this is the final check of a piece of work before going to print, so it should be simply a check of the text to make sure that no errors were missed earlier, or to spot errors that might have been introduced during the copyediting process.
For copyediting work, the level of intervention is greater than that required for proofreading and includes a more rigorous check on not only the text, but also the wording and the sentences. One major difference between proofreading and copyediting is that copyediting allows the text to be improved by rewriting sentences, reorganising sections to improve the flow, if required, and changing the layout and formatting to improve readability.
For proof-editing work, the level of intervention is somewhere between proofreading and copyediting. It might also be used if a formal copyedit has not been done on the piece of work and the proofreader effectively carries out both proofreading and copyediting tasks.
